as of 9:40 last night (24 hours ago) i have:

- tried to bite off dylan's finger
- tap danced in a parking lot
- painted pictures of the universe
- fallen through cracks
- eaten like a quarter of awesome blossom with marinara sauce
- chilled with my buddy einstein (relativity? yes)
- been so afraid of escaping all objectivity that i started crying
- ran away from a man with a flashlight
- played the subjectivity snapping game with kristen and becca
- gone back and fourth on the satre vs. foucault debate about 20 times
- hugged a ton of people at school
- sat through class day while kirian was a fucking lion, which was the most absurd thing ever

and tomorrow we're off! so nice.
i love all of you very much, and i'm glad that i was able to have four very wonderful and crazy years, so thank you. :)

therefore, i am whoring myself out livejournal style right now. it's my birthday, which is cool... i went shopping and bought some cute clothes with my mom yesterday as a present. way hot. and in a few hours i get to go play laser tag with some kids. which is also hot. wow. hot? oh dear

well. i'm taking a brief break from mancur olson and calabresi (free riders and federalism) -- aka debate -- in order to make this public service announcement:

SSOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD.

I haven't had icecream in ages due to the veganism, but man, this soy stuff is tasty. I highly recommend the chocolate fudge brownie. plus, even if you're not a vegan kid, it's way healthier for you. so go out and buy some. i got it with my mommy to the safeway on -- i think it's meridian and san carlos? wow, they had so much vegan stuff, i felt like i was in whole foods. it was superb.

and yesterday i went to crossroads (you know, that cute little trading/thrift clothes store) on san carlos and got some cute things for pretty cheap. i ran into heather while i was there! holy crap i haven't seen her in ages. she is such a cute little spud bucket.

holy potatoes, the mates of state concert was so super neat fantastico amazing. me and lar went and ate all-you-can-eat indian food at some fabulous buffet in berkeley and then took bart over to san fran. wheee it was so fun.

we got there just as the first opener, still flyin' was playing. they kind of reminded me of the polyphonic spree because there were about 14 of them on stage in bright colors shakin their stuff. they were pretty lame, i thought, lame like lame-sauce. some of them just stood there and didn't really do anything except occasionally bang some sticks together. ahaha, there were all these hardcore emo kids standing behind us who had their arms crossed and their heads slightly tilted down who were like, "we can't like this music it's too happy for our dark aura raaawwwrrrrrrr." so yeah, that was still flyin.

the next band was these twelve year old girls from seattle, smoosh, and they were the most ridiculous thing in my life. one girl was on drums and the other was on the keys -- they sounded so bubble-gum poppy that it was like fucking hillary duff. ahaha and the song titles were all ridiculous, like "you got what you wanted" or something. at one point the lead singer (who sounded like fiona apple on crack) was singing like, "hey. yo. okay." THOSE WERE THE LYRICS. ahahahaha it was so fucking dumb.

yeah sorry anyway. so then aqueduct came on and they were fantastic and ridiculous. by this point larry and i had worked our way to front and center -- so we could see everything perrrfectlyyyy. ahaha then larry leans over and is like, "katie, doesnt the beginning of this song sound like damn it feels good to be a gangster!?!?!" and it wassss, ahaha. jason (from mates) came on and "rapped" with them, it was fantastic.

after aqueduct, mates came on, and they were sooooo neat. it was so intense ahh! there was this kid to the left of larry that clearly spent way too much time playing dungeons and dragons; he had uber-long orange curly hair (carrot top style) and a ton of acne and glasses, and the entire time he was FREAKING OUT and flailing like a fucking psycho. everyone in the vicinity was giving him the weirdest looks and larry even had people come up to him after the show and tell him they were sorry he had to put up with him the whole time. oh dear, i'm just glad little larry isn't bruised from that nutso. ahaha, and there were also these two drunk lesbians that were hitting on all these girls around me, and at one point one of them came up behind me and put her arms around me but was like, "ohhshghh my gaawww im so sorry im duyrnmk ahhh ohmysgoggdd." it was cute. and by cute i mean weird.

mates of state came out for an encore and played a bit more at the end, but they didn't play starman!! it made me sad!! they played almost every other song off of their new EP, all day. i think along for the ride was the most rockin. definitely. oh, and the two of them kept looking at each other all intensely during the show. i kept thinking, damn they must have great sex.

ahh, and then i got a cute tote bag and t-shirt and button. and i saw norma and sierra, and JEROME down in the coat check, and sierra's tattoo is super neat. truf. <3

remind me to go to shows more often!!

berkeley tournament + ted ted

ahh! so much love has gone down in the past few days! this has definitely been the best vacation i've had. first was the berkeley speech and debate tournament -- i came home with two trophies, which was super neat. plus i got to hang out with amazing people and eat indian food (naan n' curry... oh my god, so good). that tournament is always the best ever.

i took lots of pictures but i haven't gotten them off my camera yet, i'll stick them up soon.

and then, last night i saw ted leo and the pharmacists in SF with caitlyn, victoria, jessica, larry, and spackles, which was uber awesome. the bassist and drummer (on the left and right sides in the photo) both had giant hair and big beards and were dressed like godspell rejects from the 70s. ted's hair is adorable and his voice is just wow. the set was superb -- and oh man, the great american music hall is fantastic. its decorated to look all ornate and opera-ish but it's tiny and cozy and perfect for a little rock show.

there were 3 openers: the herms, the joggers, and communique. the herms were kind of lame, the joggers were pretty good but made so many fucking obnoxious comments when they weren't playing, and communique was pretty dece (except for the fact that the lead singer's hair looked like a greaseball). of course, no one can match the awesomeness that is ted ted.

overall, it was really neat. and nowwww i'm off to a debate meeting then going to go see mates of state. woo!

well, i skipped school today because i'm dying of a bad cold and have no voice. boo. but on a happy note, i leave for berkeley (the debate tournament) tomomrow and i'm nerdily excited. this is the best tournament of the year. scorez0r. i'll be sure to take lots of pictures of skinny nerdy boys (so attractive. ahah)

in other news, this band, the libertines is really neat. they're a british indie rock/britpop band that's sort of reminiscent to the onslaught of the "the" bands: you know, the strokes, the hives, the vines, the doves, etc. except, i like them better. this album, which is self-titled, is pretty fun and fiery and... crunchy... if that makes sense. plus the british accents are pretty hot.

overall, i'd give it... oh, i don't know... 80%? maybe there's too much crunchiness. nothing terribly... unique, but still jolly good fun though.

tilly and the wall

i've been on a music spree lately... first the (sort of) new mates of states ep (all day), two brand new bright eyes albums, and now this band -- tilly and the wall. they are super cute AND they have a tap dancer instead of a drummer. definitely check them out. the style of their album, wild like children, is really hard to pin down; it goes from very chipper mates of state-ish harmonies to laid back acoustics to quasi-dancey faint-ish beats. they are ridiculously versatile. definitely one of the best albums i've heard in a while.

good songs to check out:
reckless (there's a rad tap solo/neat harmonies)
a perfect fit (it's kind of faint-ish)
let it rain (more acoustic/mellow... pretty love song)
nights of the living dead (rockkzz0rr)

get the whole album while you're at it... or make me burn it for you

i cut my bangs myself today and they're super short... very betty paige, kind of cute.

christmas is definitely commercial-tastic to the point of grossness, but this year brings a few wonderful things:
1) my brother comes home and he's awesome... i like it when all five of us kiddies are together
2) watching law and order ALL DAY LONG. i've seen 379848 episodes in three days

i just wrote 11 pages of my research paper today (its due wednesday). i rock.

also, admire my cute t shirt design. it looks rather nice on the t-shirt itself -- it's almost screenprintish looking because it came out so neat. as in not sloppy. like on the shirt. the neat is neat. oh my god katie who are you. sierra suggested i try writing "hitler" instead of "neat" and ashley said she wants one with gorbachev or something. i still think "frockenshpiel" under a rainbow would be fantastic for absolutely no reason. i think i'll make some totes. fabric paints, ahoy!
